6 Training & Professional Development

Training and professional development opportunities for faculty are available on campus and beyond. Take a look at upcoming BTC eLearning workshops schedule here. Consult your Dean, Human Resources and the current faculty Collective Bargaining Agreement  (CBA) for funding and Professional Development Unit (PDU) credit options. The BTC Foundation also provides professional development grants and other support for faculty development.

BTC Training Options

In addition to initial orientations and workshops with the BTC eLearning department, campus training for teaching online is generally offered on Faculty In-Service days (check with your Dean’s office or the BTC Intranet for the current schedule). eLearning offers workshops and webinars throughout the academic quarter on general and emergent topics and also invites faculty to drop in, email, or call for on-demand training and support. eLearning provides customized training upon request for departments, divisions and other groups.

Professional Development Beyond BTC

Workshops

Educational Technology and Open Education at the State Board for Community & Technical Colleges offers several excellent introductory workshops for teachers. These facilitated online workshops are two to four weeks long. They are offered throughout the academic year. Take a look at the current calendar here. The Washington State eLearning Council publishes a calendar of professional development opportunities for online educators at WAProfDev.com. Contact BTC eLearning with questions about content, registration, time commitments or if you are interested in training that is not currently listed on the SBCTC site.

Conferences
