My Favorite Celebration

My favorite celebration is Christmas for many reasons. First, we can spend time together as a family. In my home country of Peru, we celebrate it every December 24th. We decorate the house with decorations and a tree with ornaments while listening to Christmas carols. Also, we put presents under the tree and then we wait for the middle of the night to open them. Additionally, we spend the whole day cooking the special traditional food. We make a turkey or broiled chicken, Russian salad with white rice, paneton (sweet bread) and hot chocolate. You can see people running with the turkey pan outside trying to go to the bakery. The children go to bed early, then they can wake up before dinner and enjoy everything all night. The dinner is after midnight, but my family and I prefer to eat early. We hug at midnight, open the presents, and go outside to hug our neighbors. Then, outside we can watch fireworks everywhere. In conclusion, Christmas is the best time when family and friends share a bit of time together.
