A Favorite Celebration

New Year is my favorite cultural celebration for many reasons. This holiday is super popular in Russia. It’s celebrated every year on December 31st at midnight. Usually, we celebrate it at home with family, but sometimes we go to a restaurant. Many people like this holiday because it has 10 days for the weekend. The family and friends have meetings for dinner and activities. Right after the New Year, everyone goes outside and sets off fireworks. Also, many people go to the sauna or ice skating before the New Year. It’s as big a holiday in my country as Thanksgiving or Christmas is in the US. In conclusion, New Year celebrations in Russia are my favorite.
