A Favorite Celebration

Yarid

The Carnival of Barranquilla is my favorite celebration in Colombia for many reasons. It is one of the most important festivals, attracting thousand of visitors each year. The carnival usually takes place in March or February, lasting approximately four days, from March 1st to March 4th this year. The entire city of Barranquilla celebrates with parades, dances, and traditional customs. People wear colorful costumes, dance in the streets, and throw corn powder at each other. Although I now live in the United States, this festival is only celebrated in Colombia, so I cannot participate this year. However, I love it because my friends and family enjoy this celebration for the food and for different performance. In summary, I love this festival because it is unforgettable and reflects Spanish and Caribbean traditions that are part of my culture.
