A Special Journey to a New Life

Coming to U.S. was a victory for me. I crossed the border on May 9, 2023 — the same day people in my country celebrate Victory Day from World War II. It felt like a sign. I crossed the border in Tijuana, Mexico. That city is very dangerous and full of crime, so I was very scared. However, I was also full of hope. After the border, we stayed one night in San Diego, California. The next morning, we flew to Seattle. I was with my mother, my cat, and my older sister. My sister has lived in Seattle for 20 years, and she helped us a lot during the trip. This journey was hard but full of meaning, and I will never forget it. In conclusion, moving to Washington was the start of a new and better chapter in our lives.
