Independence Day of Ukraine
V. Mosina
Independence Day in Ukraine is one of the most meaningful celebrations for me. Ukraine’s history has both tragedies and triumphs. The terrible losses from the Holodomor, the devastation of World War II, and the struggle for survival during its time in the USSR. 33 years ago, Ukraine regained its independence. August 24 is Ukraine’s Independence Day. On this day, we honor the great journey of resilience and courage of our country and its people. For Ukrainians, independence means more than status; it means freedom, democracy, and the rule of law. It is this sense of independence that inspires us to resist Russia’s aggression, which has been ongoing since 2014. Across the country, on Independence Day, people remember all the events that have taken place and honor the Ukrainians who gave their lives in the struggle. I In summary, the memory of past events is important for future generations, which is why it is important to celebrate Independence Day.
