INMIGRATION IN THE U.S.A

William V.

The United States should continue to accept immigrants and refugees. First of all, they contribute to the US, especially with the workforce in different sectors such as construction, restaurants, and farms which helps them develop experience. Additionally, immigrants may bring diverse traditions, different cultural expressions, and many culinary options. For example, Mexican food is preferred by native people in the United States. Another reason, no less important, is that they contribute substantially to the US economy, consuming products and services and paying taxes. Some people might say that immigrants could take away jobs from citizens or may cause wages to fall. However, studies show that immigrants contribute more in public benefits. Cities that experience a sudden influx of immigrant workers do not typically see declines in wages for lower-skilled natives. Low-skilled immigrants who recently arrived in the United States generally do different jobs than most natives, so the influx of immigrants attracts business investment that also benefits the U.S.-born. Immigrants support local businesses as consumers as well. Therefore, the United States should strengthen favorable immigration policies since the country benefits from immigration, which has contributed to its growth and prosperity.
