Co-requisite ENGL 98 + ENGL& 101

What is a co-requisite model English course, and how it can benefit you?

In a co-requisite model English course, you will take your ENGL& 101 course right away alongside a two-credit supplementary course that provides extra support and guidance from the instructor. This model has been shown to increase student success rates and is becoming more and more popular in colleges across the country.

Why consider taking a co-requisite model English course?

Here are just a few of the many benefits:

1. 1. More personalized attention: Because the supplementary course provides additional, individual support, you will have more opportunities for one-on-one attention from your instructor. This can be especially helpful if you struggle with writing or need extra help with reading comprehension.
   2. Saving time and money: Completing this co-requisite model will fulfill your ENGL& 101 General Education requirement in one quarter and in 7 credits; whereas, the traditional route includes ENGL 91 and ENGL& 101 in two consecutive quarters using 10 credits.
   3. Increased confidence: By having access to extra support, you will feel more confident in your abilities and more comfortable participating in class discussions and assignments.

Overall, a co-requisite model English course is an excellent choice for students who want to maximize their chances of success in college.  In the co-requisite model course, you will meet in two-hour sessions instead of hour-and-fifteen-minute sessions.  The class will meet two days a week.  The additional hour is the ENGL 98 support session, and its sole purpose is to supplement the learning that is happening in ENGL& 101.
