Overview

Mariann (she/her) is a 45-year-old Korean woman. She was a stay-at-home mother for the last 20 years but now that her kids are grown, she’s gone back to school to become a medical assistant. Mariann worries that she won’t be hired because of her age. Students like Mariann, who have been out of the workforce for years, have many of the same concerns as students who are entering it for the first time. As you read through this chapter, think about the success strategies Mariann could use throughout her educational journey.
