My Experience to Learning English
O P D
One day at my work, one customer asked me about cashews. I was very confused, but I told him to show me because I am new. He said ok. When he showed me, but I felt happy to learn new things. From this day, I never forgotten about cashews. After working there for a while, I got very tired of answering people’s questions. Haha!!!. it’s too funny because one lady came to the store and she asked me about Tums. I said we don’t have it because I didn’t know what she meant. She went around the pharmacy, and she came back to me. She told me she had found it. I was ashamed, but she said “Next time, this is Tums for stomachaches”. It was very difficult for me to adapt to the English sound at work. Everyday I learn new things at work. My Experience to Learning English is very Important and helpful in my life. Sometimes, it’s very difficult and funny. Because, you will never forget in your mind.
Before I came to the USA 1 year ago, I only knew how to introduce myself in English. One of my friends suggested that I register at Highline College to improve my English. In addition, I know I am not a good reader, but I believe learning English is the best way to communicate with other people; also it helps you have a private space. I found a job because I thought that learning is not enough. I need to meet people outside to improve my speaking and my listening; however when I started working at the airport as a saleswoman, I realized this job is very helpful. My first week was very difficult because everything was very confusing. For example, when the people spoke, and I didn’t know how to respond to them. One day my supervisor came to the store to blame me because one customer said I didn’t pay attention to him. When he asked me about chocolate, I said I didn’t know. When she came and called me outside the store, and She said, I know you are a hard worker, your English is not so good. Don’t worry, next time be careful. The store exists because of customers. I almost cried in my heart and I was sad.
Although I am not 100% in English, but I know how to respond when the customer asks me something. Right now, I know many different kinds of medicines, candy, and other things in English. In addition, learning at Highline College is very helpful because I improved my writing, reading, speaking and listening in English. I am also learning how to use the keyboard on the computer. My English is overall better than when I came. The work and the study have helped me a lot. It’s my skill and my goal in the USA.
In summary, I decided to study to improve my English. It is my goal right now. All these challenges or some difficulties at my work and my study at Highline College makes me strong everyday, so I see the advantages each second in my daily routine because my English has improved. I will never forget all the experiences that kept me from learning English in the USA.
