Special Moments in Hard Times

Lorena Ospina Muriel

The pandemic was a terrible situation in the world, but not for me and my mother. In the year 2020 when my country closed for a terrible pandemic, I couldn’t travel to United States. Still, I understood what that time was for me and my mom.

For eight months, we were in our house with only the two of us. Every day my mom made delicious food, and we made different desserts such as ¨arroz con leche, postres de tres leches, postre de milo, and arroz con leche de café¨.

We watched TV series and movies, and I cleaned my house every day. At night near our home, we walked and ran, but we didn’t meet other people. We slept late, and we talked all the time. It was very nice, and I enjoyed each moment because I knew that this would never happen again.

We haven´t forgotten our special moments. When the pandemic finished, I traveled to U.S because my husband needed me, and so far, I haven’t been able to go back my mother’s house. Mothers are very important, and each moment is special. I will never forget what quality time we had in a hard time.
