Eating and Drinking
A. Read the idioms and their meanings:
- Could eat a horse=be extremely hungry
- Wash something down= drink liquid to swallow food/medicine, follow a meal with a drink
- A feast fit for a king= an exceptionally big, delicious meal with lots of courses
B. Find the idioms in the paragraph:
After a long day on the beach, my husband and the kids were so hungry that my husband said, “I could eat a horse right now!” His stomach growled loudly, and we all laughed. While we were entering the nearest restaurant, the savory smells made everyone’s mouths water. We ordered so many dishes from the menu. When they finally arrived, my little daughter said, “This is definitely a feast fit for a king.” And started gobble it up. We warned her to eat slowly and offered water to wash it down after each mouthful bite. We couldn’t decide if each bite was so delicious, or we were rather too hungry.
