Chapter 5: Benchwork

As you have seen in previous chapters, there are several important steps to learning a new skill. For example, you must learn trade-specific terminology. This chapter will aid you in learning the terms used when performing benchwork. By the end of the chapter, you will also know what tools are used when performing benchwork. Benchwork refers to the task of using hand tools to fabricate a part. Beginning with how to hold work while you machine it, this chapter will introduce you to selecting the correct tool for the job and describe how these tools are used by skilled tradesmen.
