Introduction

Welcome to the Information Literacy Guide

This book was initially created in Winter 2024 during a Community of Practice focused on Pressbooks and Open Education at Spokane Community College. The goals of this book include:

  • Connecting concepts of information literacy with practices for assessment in higher education
  • Exploring the Information Literacy Key Literacy at Spokane Community College (SCC)
  • Generating ideas around integrating the assessment of this Key Literacy within your program and courses

This book is designed to be a workbook and is not a comprehensive resource on information literacy or assessment. For more support around information literacy, reach out to SCC librarians. For more support around assessment, reach out to SCC’s eLearning to get connected with the current Student Learning and Assessment Committee. Contact information for each department can be found on this page.

Following the initial release of this book, additional books may be released focusing on the other four SCC Key Literacies.
