About the Authors
Greg Bem
Greg Bem, Faculty Librarian
Greg Bem is the Outreach Librarian at Spokane Community College, and newly arrived since Fall 2023, having relocated to Spokane from Seattle in late August 2023.
Formerly, he served for eight and a half years as a faculty librarian and the library coordinator at Lake Washington Institute of Technology in Kirkland, Washington. He also has worked on library and information science projects at North Seattle College, Open Development Cambodia, and the Wildlife Conservation Society. His passions include open education, digital literacy (including GenAI), information literacy, and cultural humility. He is a firm supporter of equity, diversity, and inclusion initiatives and he is actively involved with the Washington Library Association and the Library Leadership Council of the WA State Board of Community and Technical Colleges.
Greg is originally from Maine and has lived in Rhode Island, Philadelphia, and Cambodia. Outside of his professional work, he has historically supported and led union efforts, and spends much of his free time hiking and climbing in the mountains, as well as creating experimental artwork.
