The Improvement in Watercolor Painting, by Viktoriia Koziar
Artist statement: For as long as I can remember, watercolor has been my least favorite medium for painting. I was never thrilled with the results, also the process of creating an artwork was always nerve-wracking and difficult. Consequently, I was quite disheartened by the prospect of completing an assignment that involved painting a figure in a landscape using watercolors. However, while painting, I was surprised by how this material revealed itself to me from a different perspective. At that moment, it seemed I had finally understood its essence. Therefore, I definitely plan to continue experimenting with this once-hateful medium in the future.
