24 Adjectives with Double Meanings

In French, most adjectives go after the noun they modify. We have seen a group of adjectives where they come before the noun: BRAGS (Beauty, Rank, Age, Good or bad, and Size except for grand with people.) The reason we don’t put the size word grand before people is because some adjectives can come either before or after the noun, changing the meaning of the word. Think figurative first to help you remember the placement. Here are a few adjectives whose meaning changes depending on placement:

You receive a hand-written letter from one of your ancestors that is full of advice for you as you embark on the next stage of your life. This person wants you to see the world and use the money to expand your horizons.
