My Neighborhood
Tetiana Kruhova and Griffin Janzen
When I flew to the USA, I didn’t know what to expect. I didn’t know what conditions I would live in and what kind of people would surround me. But I didn’t care much about this because I saved myself and my children from bombs. I am here, and I am safe now and I have a new way of life. I live in a small area, something like a village. This is not usual for me because I am from a big and loud city. Many things I like and dislike about my neighborhood. However, for me, the advantages of my neighborhood clearly outweigh its disadvantages.
There are a lot of things I enjoy about my neighborhood. For example, it’s very peaceful. Our house is located on a quiet street, and there is a small road with slow traffic because there is a school on the opposite side of the street. It’s also beautiful. I live near a large and beautiful forest. I like walking there. There is such wildlife in the forest that it feels like you are in a fairy tale and can forget all the problems and troubles.
There are also some things I don’t like about my neighborhood. For instance, shopping is hard. There aren’t any malls, so I must drive a long way to buy things I need for me, my family, and my house. I wish there were more fun restaurants, small shops, and places where you can have fun with children on the weekends. I should travel somewhere in search of entertainment areas.
Life in my neighborhood has its own benefits and drawbacks. The longer I live here, the more I like it. I am glad that I live in this neighborhood.
