Stories from High Intermediate English Language Learner (ELL) Students

Stories in this section were written by students in INTL 50, which includes international students in a high intermediate level of ELL. This class was taught by Karyna Tytar. She asked her students to write about their neighborhoods, asking the questions what is something that you like and don’t like about your neighborhood.

I’m honored to participate on another edition of Stories from Our Lives to help bring to life incredible experience of students from a variety of countries including Armenia, China, Colombia, Mexico, Mongolia, Russia, Taiwan, Turkey, and Ukraine. This publication includes essays the students wrote as a part of their English class during fall 2022. Each story is unique and shows how hard these students worked to improve their English skills. We hope these narratives provide the motivations for other students to write their stories as well and share their voice with the broader LWTech community and beyond. I am grateful for the art faculty and students that provided wonderful illustrations for this publication. They help to capture the essence and character of each story.
