The Person I Admire
Anna Wu
Everyone has someone in mind who he admires. Someone might be a scientist, a writer, a musician or movie super star. But as for me, the person I admire the most is my mom. Under her influence, I became grateful and kind.
In 1976, when I was 3 and my brother 1 year old, my grandfather could not stand up because of an accident. My family was not rich at that time. My father had to work in the factory every day and often worked overtime. My brother and I were still young. It was a tough time for my mom. When I was 7 years old, I could help my mom take care of my grandfather, but I got impatient sometimes. My mom always told me, “Your grandfather raised your father, so we have to take care of him. Don’t be impatient.” I have never seen my mom be mad at my grandfather until 1997.
My mom always told me to be kind. That is what she has always done. I always remember one thing. One day, a stranger passed out in front of my home door. My mom took all the family money and took the guy to the clinic. You have no idea what a dollar meant to our family. It left a deep impression on my mind.
As you see my mom often makes gratefulness and kindness in everything. She made a great impact on my destiny.
