The Person I Admire
Lidiia
There are many people who have influenced my life. I am grateful to all my teachers for both positive and negative experiences. But my father Donat is my favorite person who had the greatest impact on me. He taught me to never give up and enjoy life.
First, my father inspired me to never despair. He was a smart man who lived a challenging and interesting life. He fought in the Second World War and was captured by the Nazis. Then, in 1945, the Soviet government sent him to Siberia as “an enemy of the people”. There he met my mother. In 1962, my family and I moved to Ukraine. My father didn’t have the education of a mining engineer, but he took the position of a project manager at a scientific research institute and successfully worked in it. He set the goal of giving me the opportunity to get a higher education. He worked beyond retirement age despite health problems. My father always supported our family, and I wanted follow his example.
Second, my father knew how not only to work, but also have fun. Every year we went to the Black Sea. He taught me to swim. My father and I played a lot of board and outdoor games, went to museums, theaters and concerts. I was very interested and learned about the diversity of life. My father told me a lot of exciting stories about his life which allowed me to imagine myself as a participant in those stories.
In conclusion, as you can see my father Donat had a big impact on my life. He showed me how to never give up and not be afraid of difficulties and obstacles. Also, he loved life and taught me to enjoy it. I love my father and I am proud of him.
