The Person I Admire

I consider myself a lucky person because there many people who positively influenced me throughout my life. With their help, I gave love a lot even after becoming an adult and became the person I am today. However, my mother Taeko is the person who had the greatest impact on me. She inspired me to give unconditional love a lot and to become independent.

First, my mother Taeko gave me unconditional love a lot at any time. When I was 4 years old, I used to stay at an orphanage nursery school for about a year for family reasons. I remember that I was sometimes sad and missed mom. But this school practiced Waldorf education with children who were there, and it was a good opportunity to get a good education. This education values preparing the surrounding environment so that a child can develop his or her own individuality. Therefore each child may be able to develop independence while having a sense of self-affirmation. I believe that this education is the base of my present. So, I appreciate that she chose the school for me. And she recognized her breast cancer when I was at the 1st grade at elementary school. Actually, she needed to get the operation due to the disease urgently, but she didn’t do it immediately because when she had to stay in a hospital after the operation, nobody else took care of me to prepare meals, help with school and more. Therefore, she chose to take the operation on my school’s summer vacation, which was 3 months later. She said that her daughter and her children’s education was more important than her condition. I heard this from my uncle after I became a high school student. When I heard that, I thought, “Why would you be willing to do that for me?” After I went on crying until I could not cry anymore, sometimes holding back tears. She always protected me from any severe situations by a lot of unconditional love, that is now in my heart. So, I cannot thank her enough. I can never match up to her since I became a mother.

Second, my mother showed me the value of independence. Before I was born, she worked as a telephone operator. It was hard to keep on working to take care of me, but she never gave up working. She searched for other jobs, and she tried to get a cooking license and home helper license. After then, she worked responsibly as a home helper, and she was so happy. I am really proud to have been her daughter. Then, I thought that I wanted to work in a place where I can feel happy for someone and myself, and I wanted to find a job which was related to medicine. I was especially inspired by a person who found her cancer by ultrasound, and I become a sonographer about 15 years ago. I believe that she let to my present career.

In conclusion, as you can see my mother Taeko had a great impact on my destiny. She gave me unconditional love a lot and built me up by Waldorf education. Through a lot of love and Waldorf education, I can be a truly powerful person who can enter into life. Also, she showed me that it is important to be independent. Also, she built up my free self-determination. She is person I am most grateful for forever.
