Overcoming challenges in pursuit of my dreams

Pursuing our dreams is one of the most important ways to achieve them and I immigrated to the U.S. to accomplish it. Because I believe there are Freedom and opportunities for determined people who want to improve their talent, knowledge, Art, and creativity. During the year that has passed since I moved here, I have experienced many different challenges that made me more experienced, wiser, and appreciative.

Initially, I should admit that I am so dependent on my family, so leaving them is one of the most difficult parts of my immigration process. During the first month of my immigration, I should call them consistently because I was worried about them since at that time there was a civil war in my country. The internet connection was so poor, and the time zone differences made me unable to sleep at night. But little by little with my husband’s help I have learned how to manage my consideration and worries about my family. He tried to explain to me this situation and the reason for my worries and found out some solution for it, Also I figured out that according to scientific and psychological articles, this kind of feeling is normal at the beginning of immigration. Therefore, I tried to have a positive and good feeling, so that I could have a good impact on my family and others.

Secondly, there was a feeling of loneliness that was slowly conquering me, like a big, black, and cold shadow and it was scary for me. Although my husband has tried to make me feel better but, most of the time he was at work, and I have to find a pathway to save myself. So, I started to paint because one of my great aspirations is to become an international painter, for which I migrated. Besides that, I started going to yoga classes and working out and it was like a miracle for me, because working on my mind and body at the same time has a significant impact on my moods, and seeing an advancement in my progress makes me more motivated and stronger.

At the same time, another significant challenge that I have faced is the English language, which is really embarrassing for me. In fact, my poor English has always affected my self-confidence, so I was determined to improve my English skills because all of my goals have depended on English language skills, and becoming fluent in English has been my priority. Therefore, I registered for the English class at a very fabulous institute, and I feel I have made a significant advancement during these months. I hope to be able to speak English fluently in the close future in order to make communication, make friends, be part of the community, and make an advancement in my career through it. I think it’s a really important factor to climb a career ladder and get above and beyond in my aspirations.

Ultimately, in my belief, emigration is a very hard pathway and to me, each person who decides to leave their life, family, friends, and career behind, and starting a new life from scratch is very brave. However, for me, this way is not easy at all because there are so many challenges that I have faced such as loneliness, a new language, a new environment, and culture, and missing my family. However, I think it is worth it. After all, I feel I become braver and wiser with a new vision of the world.
