A Role Model I Currently Had in My Childhood

My love of playing basketball helped me to surpass Raisa. I admired her as a child because she was the best basketball player in our village. That was 18 years ago and I couldn’t imagine I would love playing basketball so much. After achieving my goal of being the best basketball player, I realized that everything is in our hands and you can achieve your goal, if you want it very much.

In my early childhood, I liked watching basketball. I was 9 years old when I went to elementary school. At that time, my sister had basketball practices and sometimes I liked to stay after school and watch how their practice was going. Her basketball coach Victor didn’t allow small children to go into the gym because it was unsafe, and children could get injured by a basketball. Therefore, the coach always kicked children out of the gym and I didn’t know why, but he always allowed just me to stay and watch their practice. I really appreciated it. Every time he showed me a safe place where I could watch their practice. At one of the practices, I saw one girl Raisa. She played basketball very well. I had already heard about her, but it was the first time I saw her. My sister told me a lot about her. Raisa was a famous girl in our village. When I watched how well she played basketball, I always thought I wanted to play like her.

I started playing basketball when I was 11 years old. At that time, I went to middle school and we had physical exercise classes. Victor taught boys of our class, but we had another coach. One day Victor saw how I was running and he liked it. Then he asked me if I wanted to try playing basketball. I was very happy to hear it because it was my dream. Day after day, I attended to basketball practices and I liked it. All my school time, I practiced playing basketball with boys and men. As a result, I became stronger and faster, and that’s why it was easy for me to play with girls in tournaments. Three years later, I became the best player of girls’ teams among 15 schools and the most famous basketball player not only in our village but also outside of it. Our basketball team took 1st place among these schools for 6 years. The desire to play basketball helped me not only to play like Raisa, but also to play better than her. I still play basketball and it is a great pleasure for me.

In conclusion, I want to say thanks to Raisa for inspiring me. The inspiration helped me to become the best basketball player. Therefore, I want to wish you don’t be afraid to dream. You can achieve your goal, make your dream come true and surpass the person you admire, if you want it very much. After all, everything is in our hands.
