How My First Trip Abroad Changed Me
Oksana Shcherbakova
I want to tell you about my first trip abroad to the Czech Republic. This was my first trip, and I will remember my whole life everything that happened on this trip. My emotions associated with this trip are like first love or first kiss that are remembered forever. There was also my first encounter with difficulties on this trip, when I was alone with a problem that only I could find a solution to. This trip was a wonderful experience for me and awakened my interest in traveling in the future.
My friend lived in Germany, and we wanted to spend our summer vacation together traveling around Europe. We spent 10 days organizing our trip. Finally, we made the decision that our trip would start in Prague. I had to apply for a visa for the trip and buy plane tickets. Also, my vacation dates had to coincide with my friend’s vacation dates. After some time, everything was ready, and I was looking forward to my first trip abroad. I was very excited.
However, my trip started with a problem. On the day of the departure, my first flight was delayed. When I arrived in Moscow, I saw on the board at the airport that the Moscow – Prague flight was cancelled due to bad weather. That day, many flights were cancelled due to unfavorable weather conditions, and there was chaos at the airport. I was worried and scared. I had many questions and no answers. The airport service agents only said to wait until the next morning. I spent the whole night on the floor at the airport. There were also many other people in the same situation as me. My friend was already in Prague and was waiting for me. Our plans began to change because I was one day late, but my friend supported me so that I would not be upset.
Finally, the next morning I flew to the Czech Republic. When I found myself in Prague, I was very happy. My best friend met me at the airport. These were the best 5 days of my first unforgettable trip. We visited downtown Prague and historical castles that are under UNESCO protection. We also tried local dishes, studied the architecture of the old town, walked around the city and visited the sights. It was a wonderful trip.
After this trip, where I overcame difficulties, I was no longer afraid to go to a new place, but looked forward to this day, because I realized that I could solve any problem and find a way out. Traveling is a lot of fun, and difficulties are only a small part of them, and they are quickly forgotten. Only good moments remain in memory, and some unpleasant situations are later remembered with a smile. After my first trip I had many other trips in Europe, in Russia, and in America. Every trip is a new experience that expands my horizons and worldview. And today traveling is my hobby.
