Math & Our Fields

Marilyn Nielson

Check out my friend and colleague Brian Gilbert as he talks about work in our fields! Notice the students are pulling tapes, working with clinometers, increment bores, and biltmore sticks. Environmental science technicians explore the natural world and collect quantitative data to describe it. As you brush up on your arithmetic, scales, unit conversions, and trigonometry – remember that this math has an end goal. Becoming comfortable with these concepts will make you a better environmental science technician!
