Part 5: Summarizing Data

In a way, Excel is a tool for summarizing data from other sources, such as big data imported from external databases, or regular infusions of data entry from customers and paperwork. While Excel can be and is used to craft new spreadsheets, it is as much about compiling, interpreting, cleaning, and preparing data for analysis, which is a form of some summarizing. However, It isn’t surprising that this data management program also needs to be able to crunch data further – to summarize it in different was so that data can be reviewed, tightened, and examined for trends and connections. This includes using Pivot tables and summary tables.
