Hello students and, welcome to your class CCNA study book!  In this book, you will have your own section to edit, revise, and use to store your notes and projects while you are attending one of the classes at Renton Technical College that aligns with the Cisco CCNA Certification.  As the photo above says, my hope is that you will take the knowledge you gain during your time at RTC and, “Do Something Great.”  So what does “great” mean?  Only you know your definition of great.  Personally, I feel that enrolling in college and making the sacrifice of hard work required to get your degree or certification is something truly great.   I am happy to be part of that journey with you and my hope is that this CCNA Study Book will not only be a place to collect your thoughts, ideas and assignments, but that you will find inspiration in your work and the work of your fellow students.

The purpose of this book is to create a classroom log and study guide throughout the 3 quarters relating to your Routing and Switching classes that align with the Cisco CCNA knowledge base.   And, to be able to utilize this book as a study tool during your time at RTC and going forward in you networking career.

Each section is titled with a student name, one of which is yours. You have access to your section.  Some of what you store in that section under chapters will be a class requirement and any other sections you wish to add will be entirely up to you – within reason.  Speaking of, “within reason”, there are a few guidelines that must be adhered to.  Do not post work to your section that is not your own without permission or giving credit when required.  Do not post information about unauthorized study dump sites.  Keep all work office and school appropriate.  All RTC guidelines listed in the Class Syllabus and RTC Syllabus should be adhered to at all times.

A good rule of thumb is to think about information that you are posting as a long-term representation of you.  This book will be available to other students and staff at RTC, you should only publish information that you are happy is a representation of you.

Now that we have covered the don’ts, let’s talk about the do’s!

I would like to see you be as creative OR as logical as you would like.  Organize your section in a way that suits you.  Do the things that make theory and practice of routing and switching concepts memorable and fun to you.  You are welcome to post pictures of projects, pictures of group projects, computer related activities outside of class…anything that is related to routing and switching or IT projects is encouraged here!  Have some fun.  Networking is FUN!
