Section 4: Helping You Get Started
Office, Keys, and Telephone
Your department chair and office manager will assist you with getting an office, requesting keys, and setting up telephone services.
You will get an email from Facilities letting you know that your keys are ready for pickup. If you wish to pick them up, you will have to go to SFCC Building 10. You will receive instructions.
Your Computer Account with IT Services
As a new employee, you will have an account set up for you upon employment.
For assistance, contact the HelpDesk by phone by dialing “HELP” (4357) from your office or classroom phone, or by dialing (509) 533-4357 from your personal phone.
You can also search for common issues or request help on the IT Support Center website: Here
How to Log-on to Your Accounts
Logging on to the SFCC network for access to your email and home directory, requires your username and password. At SFCC, your username is your email address. For staff and faculty at SFCC, your email would be your firstname.lastname@sfcc.spokane.edu; so, if your name is Jane Doe, your username would be Jane.Doe@sfcc.spokane.edu. Usernames are not case sensitive, so upper and lowercase letters don’t matter.
You will receive a temporary password from IT and then you must change it. Passwords are case sensitive, must be at least 10 characters in length, and must contain at least one character from three of the following four-character groups (these requirements are systematically enforced):
-
- English uppercase characters (A through Z)
- English lowercase characters (a through z)
- Numbers (0 through 9)
- Non-alphabetic characters (! $ # %)
In addition, your password cannot contain your account name or parts of your full name that exceed two consecutive characters. Please visit the HelpDesk website for a complete explanation of this password complexity rule.
Secure Passwords
Passwords are confidential information. Do not share your username and password with anyone, and do not let anyone use a computer where you are logged in.
Your SFCC Outlook Email
You will be provided with an SFCC email address that is always “first.last@sfcc.spokane.edu”. SFCC uses Microsoft Outlook, which you can access on or off campus. On campus, click on the Outlook icon, or if on a Mac, select Microsoft Entourage on the bottom icon bar to open your email). This can be configured to open automatically when you logon. Off campus, access is gained via the SFCC Employee Portal at https://sfcc.spokane.edu/Employee-Portal and clicking on Office 365 (email via web browser).
Course Materials
Faculty can place their textbook orders via online forms, which you can access on the SFCC website.
