- Open your dwarf planet or asteroid image in Afterglow.
- Click the settings gear icon on the left
- Click “Import DSS”
- Click “Split viewer down” (or right click on the new tab and click “split viewer down.”
- Click “Sync orientations.”
- Zoom in and out on one image, the other should follow.
- Start near the center and identify the same pattern of stars in both images. Use the label markers to mark every star that you see in both places: the DSS image and your image.
- When you are left with a star that you only see in your image, that’s the dwarf planet or asteroid you’re searching for! Label it!
- Download both labelled image using the camera icons and add them to your assignment.
- For example, your final images might look like these. On the top is a final image of Pluto. On the bottom is the corresponding DSS image
