  1. Open your dwarf planet or asteroid image in Afterglow.
  2. Click the settings gear icon on the left
  3. Click “Import DSS”
  4. Click “Split viewer down” (or right click on the new tab and click “split viewer down.”
  5. Click “Sync orientations.”
  6. Zoom in and out on one image, the other should follow.
  7. Start near the center and identify the same pattern of stars in both images. Use the label markers to mark every star that you see in both places: the DSS image and your image.
  8. When you are left with a star that you only see in your image, that’s the dwarf planet or asteroid you’re searching for! Label it!

  9. Download both labelled image using the camera icons and add them to your assignment.
  10. For example, your final images might look like these. On the top is a final image of Pluto. On the bottom is the corresponding DSS image
