For decades, survival sewing has been used to describe a person with minimum sewing skills. They know just enough to get by; sewing on a button, mending a seam, hemming some jeans. In March of 2020 the meaning of Survival Sewing was changed forever. Thousands of home sewers took to their machines to make cloth masks for first responders, medical workers, family and friends. Sewing as a skill has proven to be a means of survival.0
