So Much Life

A Memorial Poem for Grandma B

It’s a lot of life in one week

To mourn the end and celebrate new beginnings

And you lived that fullness of life

Many times over

Choosing it

When others choose to shy away

You gave love and a listening ear

Dry humor and celebratory acceptance

To the birds

To your children and grandchildren

To the garden

To the communion of saints

To Irv (especially to Irv)

When it was easy and when it was difficult

Teaching us to thank the Father, the universe, one another

For making us who we are

Thank you for doing that for us

Thank you for living so much life.
