Sketching and Relations

Now that we have great exposure to the SolidWorks User Interface, we can begin learning how to create simple parts. For the purposes of this book, we will define simple parts as those only having one or two features in the FeatureManager Design Tree.

Learning Objectives

To create simple parts, we need to first learn how to do the following:

  • Identify sketch planes and sketch faces.
  • Create new sketches using Smart Dimension, geometric relations, and other sketch tools.
  • Create new Extruded features from sketches.
  • Differentiate between sketch-driven features and feature-driven features.
