12 Aspirational Resume Example

Creating the Resume

Below is an example Aspirational Resume for a Graphic Designer. It was created using a template from Microsoft Word. Here’s a brief overview to how I drafted this resume:

  • First, I used LinkedIn to identify two jobs that I am interested in for the future. These jobs required multiple years of professional experience as well as technical qualifications (Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator). I looked to see if there was an educational requirement, and there wasn’t.
  • Next, I turned to Google and researched colleges and universities in Washington State with graphic design programs. I looked at a few different programs at University of Washington, Western Washington University, and Central Washington University.
  • After I did my background research, I started building my resume. I first listed the jobs I found and closely read the job description to help me draft my bullet points of what I’d accomplish/actually do in the role.
  • Next, I did some research and found an internship that I could do while in College.
  • Finally, I filled in the Skills and Accomplishments & Awards sections by reflecting on what I’d learned from reading the position descriptions and doing my research into the school I want to attend.
  • While writing my resume, I switched between research and writing.
