The Purpose

This assignment will give you an opportunity to look at the history of systemic, internalized privilege and oppression and current perspectives. This assignment also supports the following course objective:

  • Objective 1 – Describe historical and current perspectives on diversity and inclusion.

The How

  1. Read Chapter 16 of the text: The History and Influences of Systemic, Internalized Privilege and OppressionLinks to an external site.
  2. Answer the following questions in a format that fits your learning best:
    1. Summarize the history of systemic, internalized privilege and oppression and the negative effects. Include how this has influenced perspectives on diversity and inclusion.
    2. Share your perspective about the current beliefs towards one of the target groups mentioned in the chapter.
    3. What are three things you can do as an early childhood professional to make society more inclusive, reflecting the diverse society we live in? Please relate this back to the mini-lecture, text, and/or additional videos given in the module.

Examples of submission formats include a paper, video, audio, poem, song, presentation, brochure, etc.
