We’ve had an overview of computing essentials and some productivity applications. Now we’ll discuss the Internet itself, and our relationship to it. Why is this important?
The Internet and Web give us almost unlimited access to information and connection. It seems to have democratized knowledge and opened doors to avenues of work, play, creativity, and influence. Free speech, paired with our need to absorb and parse incredible amounts of information, leads to both opportunity for growth and unintended consequences. We have to consider access, responsibility, privacy, security, policy, and what digital citizenship means.
We have become global digital citizens, which demands responsible use of technology by anyone who uses computers, the Internet, and digital devices to engage with society. At work, in education, and in our personal lives, we have an effect in the world around us. Let’s find out more.
