I would like to share the “Scientist Spotlight” resource developed by Jeffrey N. Schinsk: Scientist Spotlight Homework Assignments Shift Students’ Stereotypes of Scientists and Enhance Science Identity in a Diverse Introductory Science Class (lifescied.org). The assignment introduces students to counter-stereotypical scientists, informs them of their important contributions to the field, while also teaching course content. The assignment encourages students to reflect on who scientists are and perhaps allow students to see a connection between themselves (their identity) and scientists.
