The Impact of Identity and Personality on Social Status

Mehrnaz Kameli

I was born in Iran. my city is located north of Iran. A green and rainy city. In a large house with various flower and fruit trees. My brother and I were always busy playing in the yard. During the day, we went to school, and when we back home with our father. our mother prepared the meals for lunch. We spent lunchtime together and then worked on our school assignment. I remember that time for a weekend always went to my grandparent’s home and we spent time with our uncle, aunt, and our cousin. I spent my elementary school and I made good friends, and we have stayed in touch. After many years I entered university and started studying in another city, separated from my family.

During that time, I gained many positive experiences that prepared me for an independent life away from my family and opened the door to new adventures. For two years, I lived in the dorm with my friends and classmates, experiencing good, bad, and challenging times together. After a year of being in university, my life was changed because I met my husband there. After we got to know each other, we planned our life together, step by step, and we did. until the idea of immigration crossed our minds and brought a very big change to our lives.

My identity  is  made  up  of  things  that  are  a  part  of  me,  that  make  me  who  am  I.  I  am a  mix  of  unchangeable  parts  and  some  parts  don’t  easily  change.  these  are  things  like  race/ethnicity,  gender  sexual,  language  ability,  etc.  For  example,  my  Persian  ethnicity  connects  me  to  my  rich  culture.  As  a  woman,  my  experiences  and  views  are  shaped  by  my  gender.  my  language  adds  another  layer  to  how  I  see  the  world.  My  nationality  and  citizenship  status  define  where  I  belong.  These  unchangeable  elements  shape  my  personality  and  who  am I.  I can’t  change  them  because  I  didn’t  choose  them.  They  are part  of  my  personality.

Who  we  are,  like  our  race,  gender,  and  nationality  situation,  can  affect  how  much  power  we  have  in  Society.  for  example,  some  races  or  ethnicities  may  face  unfairness,  gender  identity  matters  too,  or  My  language  (Farsi)  Provides  limited  chances  to  engage  with  the  People  in  the  world.  Societal  power  dynamics  are  influenced  by  historical,  cultural ,  and  systemic  factors  that  can  either  advantage  or  disadvantage  individuals  based  on  these  identities.  it’s  important  to  know  these  things  because  recognizing  this  helps  us  understand  and  show  why  some  people  may  have  more  power   than  others  in  our  community.

Identity is a multifaceted construct that encompasses our past, present, and aspirations for the future. It serves as the foundational framework of our being, intricately woven with elements such as history, culture, heritage, and environment. Our identity is not static; rather, it evolves over time, influenced by our experiences, interests, and evolving circumstances. While certain aspects of our identity may remain immutable, others are subject to change, adapting to new interests or circumstances. In this essay, we will explore the dynamic nature of identity, delving into its components, evolution, and the interplay between its stable and fluid elements. Through this exploration, we aim to gain a deeper understanding of the complex tapestry that shapes who we are as individuals .In  the following sections,  I will discusse   aspects  of  my  identity  and  Various  parts  of  my  life.

In conclusion,  our  identity  is  a  multifaceted  composition  of  both  immutable  and  adaptable  elements  that  shape  who  we  are  as  individuals.  My  upbringing  in  Iran  and  proficiency  in  Persian  language  add  layers  to  my  identity,  reflecting  the  diverse  experiences  and  cultural  influences  that  shape  who  I  am. While factors  such  as  ethnicity,  gender,  and  nationality  provide  a  foundational  framework,  our  experiences,  interactions,  and  circumstances  contribute  to  the  evolution  of  our  identity  over  time.  Recognizing  the  societal  power  dynamics  embedded  within  these  identities  is  crucial  in  understanding  and  addressing  inequalities  that  persist  within  our  communities.  By  acknowledging  the    complexities  of  identity  and  the  influence  of  historical,  cultural,  and  systemic  factors,  we can  strive  towards  a  more  inclusive  and  equitable  society  where  every  individual  is  valued  and  empowered  regardless  of  their  background  or  circumstances.  Embracing  the  dynamic  nature  of  identity  allows  us  to  appreciate  the  richness  of  diversity  and  work  towards  building  a  more  just  and  compassionate  world  for.
