Women in Society

Culture in simple words it’s how people live, what they like to do, as they communicate, what they value and how they understand the world around themselves. I strongly believe that it’s very important to know about your culture and value your culture, because it helps people understand their history, roots, place in society and forms people’s personality. Knowledge of one’s own culture also contribute better understand and interact with other people. And also cultural learning promotes tolerance and respect for diversity. Cultures may be similar and can be completely different. So, I will show it in my essay

I think in Kyrgyz culture history and historical characters plays the big and important role.

One of the most prominent women in the Kyrgyz history is Kurmanzhan Datka. Kyrgyz think that she was “Alay queen”. It mentioned in Osmonaly Sydykov’s book Brief history of Kyrgyz, you can read more about our history in this book. The future alay queen Kurmandzhan Mamatbai kyzi was born in 1811 in the Nomad family. In 17 years Kurmanzhan was brought to one man of Noble kind. The man was much older and she didn’t like him. So the girl made the bold act at that time: ran to her home and stayed there, although still considered the wife of the man, only three years later she married a local feudal, the head of the tribe of alay Kyrgyz Kyrgyz alymbeka date. Alybek date was a very influential person among the Kyrgyz. In 1862, he was secretly killed and Kurmanzhan Danke had to replace his husband and take power in his hands, though she was at that time 51. She has achieved the cancellation of taxes with long negotiations with enemies. Kurmandzhan received a solemn reception in the Palace of Bukhara Emir, where and received title Datka. She became the first and only in the history of the Muslim world, a woman who was given such a high status. Kurmanzhan Datka had an insurmountable authority among the tribe. She quickly acquired the reputation of the wise government who successfully regulated the birth disputes of Kyrgyz. Kurmanzhan Danka remembered in the history that sacrificed her son for the sake of the Kyrgyz people, giving the son of the Russian Empire, so that there was no war

So, mine topic about women in History, because In my opinion we talk little about girls, when it comes to culture. Yamakawa Kikue Japanese writer, socialist feminist and activist. She was born in 1890 in Tokio. One of the founders of the ‘Red wave Society’, the first women’s socialist organization in Japan. In 1908, she began studying at Tsuda Women’s College. In 1916, she married Hitoshi Yamakawa- a communist figure. She is best known for her views on prostitution and motherhood, in the discussions about which she constantly criticized the position of liberal feminists, who believed that women could get full rights in a capitalist society. In March 1923, Yamakawa met with Korean feminists. In October 1925, she published an essay “Women’s Special Requirements” in response to the introduction of a law on the right to vote for men. After World War II, she was appointed the first director of the Bureau for the Rights of Women and Minors of the Ministry of Labor of Japan. She died when she was 89 in 2 november in 1980 . The reason why I’m writing exactly about Japanese woman, it’s because that I like Japan and Japanese culture and I want to write more about Asian girls

Before I wrote about two Asian cultures; Kyrgyzstan and Japan. The reason why I wrote about these two cultures it’s because I like Asian cultures, and Kyrgyzstan is my motherland, I love so much our culture, history, language, traditions, people, food, clothes, nature. And I’m kind of inrested in Japanese cultures: their traditions, language, literature, nature. My topics similar because I wrote about outstanding women in both cultures and I tried to add a bit of history in my essay. And difference in women. Like Kurmanzhan Datka was successful as a leader and Yamakawa Kikue was successful as femenist, they were doing different things. Kurmanzhan Datka was born before Yamakawa Kikue, so their socialization were different. Common and main things in both topics are women and different is how women can achieve success in various aspects of life and how timing is important, time shows prospects and changes in the world for women. In my essay I want to mention important themes for me (people and history). In my opinion people are the most important part in culture, so it is people who form other part of culture (history, literature, language, holidays). That’s why I chose people, not holiday, food, music as a theme for my essay.

After reading my essay, I hope you have thought about how little we know about women in history. And not because there were no prominent women, but because women were always limited in development and it was accepted to silence about them. I want you to know that there were very many outstanding, strong women, but just all the glory they are used to give men. But I believe that we must speak of them in honor of memory, their merits and their contribution to culture
