Multiculturalism

Definition
Multiculturalism is the idea of acceptance of other cultures, usually immigrants, into the main society with open arms. Most of us have different cultural backgrounds, here in America, or are different in ethnicities, but we all respect each other’s differences and co-habitat within society.

Example
America is an example of a society that accepts the idea of multiculturalism, as there is a salad bowel effect within this society. Multiculturalism also helps bring people from different backgrounds together, this occurs with biracial kids growing up together in schools, neighborhoods and cities. This childhood proximity to ethnic diversity enables for open-mindedness. Soon enough, after many generations of people identifying as more than one individual race, the American “melting pot” phenomenon will be more accepted worldwide. With the help of more diversity, hopefully, these communities can bring about social change and more acceptance than the previous generations.
