Symbolic Internationalism Perspective

Symbolic internationalism is how symbols (with mutual understanding) affect and influence the way humans go through their day to day lives.

Stop lights (green=go, yellow=slow, red=stop). Emojis. American flag – symbolizes freedom. Peace sign (with hand/fingers) – means peace. Logos – cars (different logos influence perception of social and economic status), restaurants (the McDonalds “M”). Money. Body language – crossed arms = closed off, uncomfortable.
