My Neighborhood
Ludmilla Silvestre and Seren McCall Cromer
It’s hard to talk about my neighbors because they don’t give me a chance to talk to them. In my country everyone talked to everyone, and I always sat on the street in the late afternoon to see the kids come back from school, and one always stopped to talk with another. Here it is very different. However, the part I hate the most is that all the big stores like Walmart, daycare, and YMCA gym are far away. I have to drive there. The nearest market and gym are very expensive: it would cost your kidneys.
But there are many good things. My neighborhood is very clean, very calm, very peaceful, and very beautiful. For example, the garden is always very well taken care of. What I love the most here is my teenage daughter’s school. It’s the best school she’s ever attended. She loves being there, and she’s always excited to go to school. The school is very beautiful and very big, and I love having the opportunity to be there, see my daughter studying at this school. It’s a dream come true for me. But it’s really cool to live here. I love this city.
