My Neighborhood

Natalia Kazakova and Michael McGowan

My daughter and her husband bought a new house in Kirkland and invited us to live with them. My daughter told us a lot about the house and the neighborhood, and she was sure that we would like it here. We moved to them from Russia in 2018. We immediately liked the house, the neighborhood and the town. Later we saw some disadvantages, but the advantages outweigh them a lot.

There are a lot of things I enjoy about my neighborhood. For example, it’s very beautiful. Our neighborhood is located near a natural park. Many people come here to relax and exercise. We walk our dogs and admire nature every day. A dozen huge cedars grow near our house, and birds and squirrels live in them.

There are also some things I don’t like about my neighborhood. For instance, there is almost no street lighting and our area looks more like a village than a town. Also, I wish we had a backyard garden, but the cedars do not allow us to do it. I really love nature, but I also really love gardening, so this is a big disappointment for me.

As you can see, our neighborhood has some disadvantages. There is a little sun even during a day, and we have to use a pocket flashlight when we go to walk our dogs in the evening. However, our daughter was right, we like to live in this neighborhood and we would never want to move to another place.
